Michael Herring, or "Bass" as his uncles affectionately call him, is a Miami-based Gospel/Christian music singer-songwriter and producer who has been writing music for more than five years. Born and raised in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Michael has always had a passion for music from as early as he could remember. An 80's baby inspired by all kinds of 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and new millennium music from artists and groups such as Marvin Gaye, Michael Sterling, Commissioned, Jill Scott, Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, The Impressions, James Brown, Fleetwood Mac, and Michael Jackson, to name a few, Michael realized his knack for not only singing, but writing songs at a very young age.
Growing up in the inner city, Michael and his family moved around Miami a lot between Opa Locka, Overtown, Liberty City and Carol City. As a youth, Michael loved to sing and he enjoyed singing with his parents, uncle and siblings. At age 11, Michael started playing the trombone in middle school and continued playing in his schools' marching, symphonic and jazz bands up through college.
He went to the University of Florida where he studied and earned a Bachelor's in Computer Information Sciences, but kept his music roots alive, taking a Music Appreciation course for a semester, performing with the university's marching and pep bands, and even co-organizing a Valentine's Day quintet to sing popular 90's ballads for an exclusive, one-night-only university event put on for the UF North Star Leadership Council and Black Student Union.
After graduating and returning home from school, he became a born again Christian and a member of New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International, in Miami, Florida. Michael began singing for the New Birth Men of Valor Male Choir, where he was often asked to lead songs, and he also sung with the New Birth Cathedral Choir, United Voices Choir and Praise Team. In 2011, acknowledging his gifts of music and encouragement, Michael became inspired to pursue a full-time career as a Christian/Gospel artist and is a gifted, up-and-coming singer-songwriter, producer and arranger, writing and producing for his own music and others.
Michael's music infuses a bit of everything from Urban Contemporary Gospel to R&B, Jazz, Hip Hop, Soft/Hard Rock, and Pop. In 2023, Michael released his debut album titled Seek Ye First The Kingdom Of God available on streaming platforms everywhere. Michael has been performing in his home church, Bride Of Christ, local churches and even on the night scene for open mics at Savage Labs Wynwood, Thank You Miami, and Elixir Kava.
